Seriously though. Why do you want to start a blog?

What's your why in all of this? Seriously.

If you said, "It's an easy way to make money on the side." Sister, I'm here to help you look past that IN ORDER to truly be successful in blogging.

We've all seen the super professional bloggers killing in making six figure incomes and quitting their full-time jobs in the process. We've also seen the other bloggers where you're like, "That person is so like me, if they could do it, I should be able to do it too!" It's easy to get inspired by this and then go into this loop of trying to imitate that person to get the same results.

What I want to do is help you look past the money and look at WHY you wanted to start this journey in the first place. Where is your heart in all of this? Not your brain, but your heart? What is your story that you want to share with the world? What's that thing that everyone knows you for?

I want you to think about that as I introduce you into this world of blogging. Because in order to truly be successful, you need to figure out who you are, what you want to be so you can hold true and attract the audience you want to come read your blog.

And I've been there guys. It's easy to get wrapped up in the numbers game. So easy. Get more followers, get more likes, get more <insert superficial social media numbers>.

Your takeaway in all this, figure out what your ONE TRUE THING is that sets you apart from all the others.

Examples will help, right? :)

  • I'm a working mom who LOVES wearing the latest trends, but what sets me apart is that I'm a single mom trying to make it with two kids.
  • I'm a doctor who just needs a creative outlet, and I love sharing home decor at various price points because people ask me how I find time to shop for home decor with my busy schedule!
  • I am a teacher who loves sharing all the things I do in the classroom because I want to help parents (like my students' parents) better reinforce their education at home.

ACTION ITEM:

I want you to write down the answer to the following questions. You don't have to have the answers to these right away or even to move on to the next chapter, but this will help formulate your thought process as you go through this course.

  • What do people come to me for advice a lot about?
  • What do I want to write about? And why?
  • If you were to write about any topic for free for five years without making any money, what would you write about? Could you run out of content?

I'm excited to get started on this journey with you!
